Liberation (FINALLY finished)

Each passing moment, bound by one rule, today. One world holding me back, locking me down with the mechanics of the mundane. How desperate I am am to break free, to reach out towards the blue sky, to find that wondrous place I dream off. That place called tomorrow. Let me break free, shatter this cage, and find liberation.

I started this picture when I was at one of the lowest points in my life. I was incredibly down on myself, on my art, in my spirit I just felt... trapped. How many times had I told myself things would be different, things would change tomorrow. And yet as time went on nothing did. And then it hit me, that desire, need, passion to make things different, to change, to reach out and break free. And I found my pencil running along my page, sketching out a concept I was nowhere near skilled enough to complete yet. This artwork is possibly the most personal piece I've ever made and holds a very deep meaning. Liberation, freedom.

Its my prsonal statement to myself never to hold back, never to stop believing and to keep reaching forward because eventually we'll shatter the glass surrounding us and find that place we're striving for.

I'm nowhere near the end of my journey as an artist but the very thing that drove me to start this has been present with me every time I've worked on it, a reminder that if I strive for it and push forward I can accomplish all of those impossibilities I've faced over the years.

I'm sorry >> I'm a bit too tired to phrase it properly I think haha so Im just going to leave you with the picture and hope it can reach out and touch at least someone. And if not, I will continue knowing what it means to me... and after five years in the making, what it means to have finally finished it.
